Neighborhood Spotlight: Sawyer Crest
2The Scenic Southeast Corner of Maple Valley
If you’re looking at a map, tucked into the “bottom right” corner of the city of Maple Valley you’ll find the small neighborhood of Sawyer Crest.
Its beauty is in its simplicity.
Sawyer Crest boasts just over 40 houses, sitting side-by-side on a loop that begins on 239th Pl SE and turns around onto 238th.
Immediately to the East, Sawyer Crest has its own patch of forest, bordered on the far side by Rt 169.
Henry’s Ridge Natural Area: Natural Beauty
Hop over Rt 169, and you’re in the vast Henry’s Ridge Natural Area, also known as Maplewood’s or (to the government, we guess) “Maple Ridge Highlands Open Space.” This gorgeous chunk of land is laced with scenic trails, and that link offers some options for accessing them.
Much of the trail network has been developed in the last six years. The trail system in Henry’s Ridge has a decent reputation. It was featured in the Maple Valley Reporter, and, more recently, in the Maple Post.
Henry’s Ridge also includes Ravensdale Lake, which is interesting because it looks like an arrowhead.
An Ideal Location
If you enjoy being close to nature while in the comfort of a well-built home, consider Sawyer Crest. You’ll feel like you have one foot in the undisturbed natural world, and one foot warming by the fireplace. We don’t mean that you’ll feel torn between these two things—we figure you’ll enjoy both a great deal.
