Safety First!

Hello Maple Valley Dwellers,

When it comes to your home; keeping it protected while you’re away is of the utmost importance. Below are five easy tips to secure your home from thieves and disasters:

1. Stay off social media. While most of us know not to post a status that we will be out of town, most of us don’t think anything of “checking in” at our favorite eatery or location while were on vacation. This can tip off thieves too.

2. Keep temps “normal” hot or cold. Most of us turn down our heat of AC when we leave for a while, but be careful not to turn down too far. No AC can mean a major growth rate for mold and no or little heat can mean frozen pipes!

3. Don’t let mail pile up! This is yet another tip to thieves. Have a trusted neighbor help; good thing we have so many amazing ones in Maple Valley!

4. Alert the authorities. Often if you let the police know you’ll be gone sometimes especially in small towns they might make a drive by just to check on your place. Can’t hurt!

5. Think like a Thief. Little things matter; don’t close all your blinds, leave all your lights on, or keep a spare key in an obvious place like your porch.

Happy Travels, Maple Valley Dwellers!
