We like roundups of news because we can simplify all the important stories down to an essential paragraph or two.

And, as always, some interesting things are happening in Maple Valley local news, as well as in the Greater Seattle area.

Work on Tri-City Connecting Covington, Maple Valley, and Black Diamond To Begin Soon

Check it out:

This trail was proposed at a joint meeting between the City Councils for the three cities in 2010. King County reviewed the feasibility of the project in 2011. Work is supposed to begin soon, according to a report back in May 2013.

This means, if things go as planned, you may be able to bike all the way from Covington to Black Diamond later this year!

The Best Soup and Bread Place EVER Is Coming To Maple Valley

We love Panera. If you haven’t tried it yet, you’re going to. And you’ll love it too.

The location will be in Four Corners Square, the space closest to the fire station. Open date is close to the end of this year or early 2015.

According to Maple Valley Reporter, the store will employ 30 to 50 people – which is cool, of course. Jobs are good. The article also records Kevin Bedows of Panera Bread (in this region) saying:

“We donate all of our bakery products at the end of the night (to nonprofits such as food banks). We do fundraising. We want to be part of the community, not just a business that is there.”

Well, hey then. Come on in!

The Greater Maple Valley Unincorporated Area Council‘s Next Meeting Is Feb 3

Every month, the GMVUAC holds its monthly meeting. This month the topic will be a discussion of 2014 tax analysis (including relief programs) and market trends, with King County Assessor Lloyd Hara as the featured speaker.

Anyone is welcome to show up and ask questions or voice opinions during an open comment period.

The GMVUAC will meet Monday February 3 from 7-9pm at the local fire station on SE 231st and SR 169.
