Events for Maple Valley Writers

Are you a novelist? Poet? Author? English lover/major/teacher?

November is a big deal for you, because it’s NaNoWriMo! (Keep reading to figure out what that obnoxious acronym stands for!) And Maple Valley has a good bunch of ongoing events throughout the year.

We’ve rounded up the top events for writers in the Maple Valley area:

Maple Valley Writers – Every Sunday Night

When: Sundays, from 7-9pm

Where: Creative Arts Center

What: “Join fellow writers as we scribble, pen, type, talk, share and laugh over our writing projects. You can blog, research, write your novel, work on a poem, edit, journal, pretend to do something productive while actually going on tickled, etc. Drop in or leave whenever you like.”

Third Word – Every Third Wednesday

When: Third Wednesday of the month, from 7-9pm

What: “Come and be a Storyteller – fiction, non – fiction, from memory or written down. Each storyteller will have 5 – 10 minutes depending on the level of participation.”

Writing At The Spot – Every Tuesday Night

When: Every Tuesday, from 2-4pm

What: “The Maple Valley Writers exist for the purpose of putting writers together in the same room with hopes for results such as novels, poems, short stories, articles, sharing of knowledge, critique, editing, answering questions, etc. The Maple Valley Writers exist to encourage each other in the development of writing skills, the production of new written works, and a safe writing zone. The Maple Valley Writers wants to support the local arts as well as local businesses. Join fellow writers for a mug o’ joe or a glass of wine as we scribble, pen, type, talk, share, and laugh over our writing projects.”

NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) – which is November – Events!

When: Throughout the end of October and all of November –

First Event: October 30, from 6-7pm November 15

What: “NaNoWriMo Maple Valley Kickoff Party!  Kick-Off Party! Participants have a chance to meet each other, get revved up about the challenge ahead, and enjoy an event with their compatriots that does not involve writing frantically for as long as they can.”

Second Event: November 15, 4-6pm

Where: Covington Library

What: “NaNoWriMo Maple Valley Midway Party! (Covington Library) Mid-Way Party! Mid-Way NaNoWriMo celebration/discussion/writing/support. Half-way through the month, participants gather to discuss their writing and celebrate the middle of the journey. How is your journey thus far, do you have 25k words yet?”
